PAPILIO

The design allows both an erect posture and a more relaxed position by resting on one of the wings of the armrest. The formal balance results from the constant thickness of the body and by the profile of the seat, which is sinuous at the top and ends in the light steel frame. Removable covers with a metal zip on the back, which becomes a decorative motif.

IUTA '14

The four spoke wooden support of Iuta’14 softens the contours of the steel-profiled netted frame, available in two monochromatic versions, either bronzed nickel or off-white. The wooden structure is available in four different shades.

IUTA

It brings home the rigour of work spaces and stands out for the soft lines of the aluminium perimeter profile. The light steel mesh of the backrest and the light design of the spokes make it a particularly pleasant addition even to the domestic environment. Also for the home office, with a wide range of seat covers.

LAZY '05

Their name recalls relaxation, laziness and rest. The principle they have in common is the bright chromed steel frame with easy to remove covers with a zipper or Velcro fastening. With high backrest for a rigorous position, lower with backrest/armrest or in the stool version, it offers the possibility of combining different fabric tones above and under the seat, with a two-colour effect.

METROPOLITAN

Two different structures, the former in plate steel both chromed and varnished, the latter with a four star brushed aluminium base. Malleable and easy to place alongside tables that differ in style, it allows to play with base and cover combinations: more serious in leather or colourful in fabric.

HUSK

Comfortable, with a modern combination of base and seat, it picks up the profile of the namesake armchair. The body, which is shaped with a design that cites the capitonné style, conveys a feeling of softness; the cushions, in fabric or leather, fixed with press studs, are distinguished by the quilting. Many colour variants and combinations.

BELLE

«The character of this elegant chair is expressed by the back support and the armrests, and highlighted by the obtuse angle line around the elbow area. All four legs are slightly curved outwards at the bottom to give a classic feel as well. The chair is named “Belle” after the story of “The Beauty and the Beast”.»

JENS

The Jean seating system, designed for the home by Antonio Citterio, has been extended to the contract sector in a new collection of armchairs and sofas of two and three seats.

CHARLOTTE

Charlotte by Antonio Citterio is a tribute to lightness. The shell is completely covered, but the frame profile is visible on the chair side, thus highlighting the line of the seat. The cover is in raw cut full grain leather in six different colours (natural, black, dark brown, mud green, bottle green, bordeaux). The frame is available in a series of different finishes that emphasize it when pewter painted, bronzed nickel painted, black chrome painted or black painted aluminium, or blend it with the cover when painted in bottle green or bordeaux colours.

PAPILIO SHELL

The name and shape are inspired by the butterfly, which translated into Latin is "papillio". The Japanese designer took the lightness of nature and transformed it into a light, colourful poetic chair. The shape of the backs are similar in all these products, like multi-coloured butterfly wings opening up to take flight.

Butterflies in flight. The design image was that of a chair that would "welcome" gracefully - with the graceful movement of a butterfly - which in Latin is called a "papilio". Grande Papilio was designed with fluidity around an upside-down truncated cone. The ample space of its large upper back and the curved shape of its cosy seat are a clear signs of a desire to offer maximum comfort to anyone who wants to sit it this chair. This is a truly iconic product, even though its aesthetics were not a high priority according to the designer. Fukasawa, who puts people's behaviour before an interest for shape, said: “I wanted the chair to look naturally comfortable, to have the same shape that relaxation would have if it were represented by an image." The wings that extend at the sides of the chair emphasise the sensation of comfort: in the chair and the small armchair, they help support the hips and the back; in the Grande Papilio chair and the Love Papilio sofa, they cushion the head to offer isolation and tranquillity. The same spirit of simplicity, immediacy and comfort have guided the functional development of the entire Papilio series: the Grande Papilio and Piccola Papilio armchairs, the chairs Papilio and Mini Papilio, the Love Papilio sofa and the Papilio bed.
